Are you wondering how you can create an IG Story Template yourself? The easiest way is to use Canva. Consider it a lighter version of Photoshop. In fact, Canva was created for people who didn’t have time to learn the intricacies of Photoshop and wanted to be able to drag and drop elements quickly.
Canva (and PicMonkey) are my favorite template tools for creating visual content on the fly. Here’s what I’ve come up with in less than 20 minutes. It took more time for me to think of questions than customizing a pre-made template.
There are over 190 IG Story Templates for you to choose from. I added them up. Within each template, you may also find more frames… because the creators are setting you up to tell a story. It’s genius.
Feel free to right-click and save these to use for your IG stories. Don’t forget to tag @cupofjoesocial in your stories so I see them and can repost them!
I made these very simple, knowing that users like to add their own GIF stickers, music, copy over the template. Use your logo, colors, fonts to customize it to your brand.
What else can you do with IG Stories? TELL A STORY.
What a viewer may see are a series of clips, but what you should be doing before publishing is planning your story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. What’s the hook? What is it you want your viewers to get out of your stories?
For a product-based business, consider showing off its features. How easy is it to operate? Does it save the customer time? Does it decrease the number of other devices they’d need to use to get the same result? Is it on sale? Are there influencers who have posted its greatness?
For a service-based business, consider showing off the results. What feeling are you going to give that customer – a sense of relief? A sense of being cared for? What will they get in return? Confidence in their skill level? Does it save time? Does it save money? If they hired you, what are you taking off their plate? Clogged drains? (Literally and figuratively.)
In addition to the templates they offer, Canva also offers other tools like a font selector, color picker, logo maker, and a photo editor. If you want to upload your own fonts, you do need to choose the Pro version of the service. Otherwise, start with the free version and go from there.
There are several online courses to show you how to use Canva, but the best thing to do is to spend a little time on it yourself. Canva offers many free courses and tutorials for every type of template.
Have fun!
